Cypress is one of the northern most cities in Orange County and is bordered by Los Angeles County to the north, Buena Park, Stanton, and Anaheim to the east, and Los Alamitos and Westminister to the south and west.  Cypress is located off the 605 Freeway at Ball Road, which is just north of the 405 and 605 interchange.

Cypress was incorporated in 1956 under the name Dairy City as this area of Orange County was once a thriving place for dairy farmers, however, in 1957 the residence voted to change the name of the city to Cypress.  The name Cypress was derived from the Cypress trees planted at Cypress Elementary School (built in 1895) to protect against the Santa Ana Winds.  After World War II, the land became too valuable and airy farmers began selling their land during the 1960s to developers and by the 1970s there were no more dairy farms. Today, Cypress is a community of over 45,000 people and 15,000 residences. 

Cypress real estate consists of condos and single family homes with condos from the $200,000s on average and homes from the $300,000s and up.  Cypress real estate ranges in age from the 1960s up to the late 1990s as some newer and modern developments came about as lands became more valuable.  Cypress condos offer 2-3 bedrooms, 2+ bathrooms, and most offer more than 1,000 square feet of living space.  Cypress homes range from 3-5 bedrooms, 2-4 bathrooms, and offer around 1,200 to 3,000 square feet of living space.  

Cypress is a part of Anaheim Unified School District and Cypress Elementary School District.  GreatSchools.org rates Cypress schools as an 8 out of 10 based on state test results.  This site also offers great reviews on each school as well.
